The Game Changers Team on Tour

Author: Oliver Wood   23rd March 2017

For the last four days, the Game Changers team have been on tour to CU Scarborough, local Scarborough colleges, and the Coventry University main campus. The tour was to promote Game Based Learning (GBL) and Playful Learning. We’ve had students, staff, and members of the public join us to learn about using games and play in learning, and have had an overwhelmingly positive response. The days have consisted of a mixture of workshops and one-to-one sessions with staff and students alike to develop and embed interesting learning tools for modules and courses across the University Group.

Using a yellow American school bus, the Game Changers team took the Disruptive Media Learning Lab on tour. Loaded up with LEGO, Card Games, Dice, 3D Printers, and much more, this mobile learning lab took students by storm! A special thanks has to be made to Peter Coleman from Coventry’s FAB LAB for providing his expertise in 3D printing and game design and his help delivering workshops to encourage students to design their own games for learning.

The tour has taught Early Child Development through the use of LEGO, taught Law students how to develop games, and engaged many other students through a number of hands on, interactive activities.
